Palong Bay
Situated on the eastern side of Phi Phi Ley, Palong Bay is a popular dive site in Thailand. Located just north of the famous Maya Bay, which gained recognition from the movie "The Beach," this dive offers a relatively simple underwater experience with minimal currents. Divers will navigate south from Palong Bay towards Maya Bay, taking in the stunning marine life along the way.
One of the main attractions of Palong Bay is its resident turtles, adding excitement to every dive. Additionally, divers can frequently encounter Leopard Sharks swimming gracefully instead of resting on the sandy bottom. The dive site features a plateau that extends almost the entire length of the dive, with depths rarely exceeding 5-6 meters. As a result, it serves as an excellent site for beginner divers and those learning to scuba dive. The reef, reaching a maximum depth of 14-16 meters, is predominantly composed of hard corals and rocks. Divers can expect to encounter various reef fish, and sightings of octopus and cuttlefish are quite common.
With a visibility of approximately 13 meters and a maximum depth of 15 meters, Palong Bay offers an enjoyable and accessible diving experience for divers of all levels.
