Maya Bay
Due to extensive reef damage over the past two decades, Maya Bay within Moo Koh Phi Phi National Park, famously featured in the movie "The Beach," is currently closed for conservation purposes. It is expected to reopen in mid-2021. Efforts are underway to restore the reefs by planting over 1,100 corals, aiming to revive the once-thriving marine life in the area.
During this closure, the island prohibits any tourism activities, with only academic research being permitted. However, tourists can still admire the scenic Maya Bay by taking photos from boats parked outside the restricted zone. Diving activities are currently not allowed at this time.
Located in Krabi Province, Thailand, Maya Beach offers a maximum depth of 16m and visibility of 12m. It is an ideal diving spot for beginners. Plan your visit to Thailand's Maya Bay and explore its underwater wonders once it reopens.
