Land of the Giants
Begin your adventure at the shallow top reef, which starts at a depth of 5m. This lively reef is teeming with colorful soft corals, adorned with elegant plumes, rods, and whips. As you descend deeper into the depths, you'll encounter a steep wall with intricate cracks and canyons to the east. This wall promises an exhilarating experience for divers of all levels, from beginners to experts.
As you venture away from the wall into the "Blue," prepare to be awe-struck by the majestic Giants that gradually emerge from their hiding places. These massive coral formations, known as Bommies, rise from the sandy bottom and extend up to approximately 18m. Explore the enchanting swim-throughs, arches, and encounter magnificent Barrel Sponges and Azure Vases. Keep an eye out for the fascinating variety of marine life that call these formations home. However, beware of the invasive Lion Fish which are rarely hunted. If you're well-equipped, bring a spear for a unique opportunity to observe them up close.
When your No Decompression Time (NDT) starts to dwindle, head back towards the wall. Take a detour to the east and immerse yourself in the captivating canyons and swim-throughs. For those with ample air supply, after approximately 40 minutes, you'll reach a remarkable formation shaped like a fish hook extending around 100m back to the West, jutting out 50m from the wall. Admire the incredible Barrel Sponge, a true giant of the underwater world, estimated to be over 500 years old. At a depth of around 18m, further exploration may be limited due to your NDT.
As you make your way back to the wall, gradually ascend and swim along the edge of the top reef at a depth of 5m. Prepare to be mesmerized by the sight of numerous shoals of diverse reef fish, creating a spectacle of vibrant colors. This captivating display will accompany you on your return journey to the boat.
