Fish Den

Fish Den is a beloved dive site located in the clear waters off the coast of West End, Roatán, in the Bay Islands of Honduras. This site offers a unique diving experience with its mooring set atop a stunning coral pillar, nestled within a square-shaped cut in the reef wall. Divers can expect an average visibility of 22m and explore depths ranging from 20 ft to 40 ft (7m to 12m), with the square hole gradually sloping down to 60 ft (18m) as it reconnects with the main wall.

The underwater landscape of Fish Den is teeming with vibrant marine life and intricate ecosystems. You'll encounter an array of colorful sponges, graceful sea fans, and an abundance of small critters such as lobsters, crabs, arrow crabs, shrimp, and schooling fish. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced diver, there is much to discover within the confines of the cut itself.

Venturing approximately 200 ft (70m) to the south/west, you'll encounter a breathtaking section of the reef known as our own version of Dead Horse Point. Here, a lively expanse of top reef awaits you at around 50 ft (14m), dropping off dramatically on both sides, providing a sensation of flying over a point amidst the vast underwater canyons. Further south/west, you'll be captivated by discreet sand patches delicately nestled among grand coral walls.

As you gradually make your way shallower and return to the boat, be sure to explore the enchanting undercut ledge at approximately 33 ft (10m), adorned with stunning upside-down fans. Exiting the ledge, you'll emerge at around 24 ft (8m), conveniently close to the boat. To conclude your dive, embark on your safety stop by following the mooring line past the boat. You'll find yourself surrounded by an abundance of schooling grunts, small yellowtail, trumpet fish, and tang, creating a captivating spectacle in the top reef, ranging from 15 ft to 10 ft (5m to 3m). It's the perfect finale to an extraordinary dive.
