Never Come Back

After a pleasant 20-minute boat ride, we arrive at the captivating dive site known as El Ancla or Never Come Back. This expansive and rugged reef serves as an excellent navigation point for divers. With its relatively untouched and secluded nature, this dive spot offers a unique and immersive experience. It is advisable to bring a dive lamp to enhance visibility.

Divers can expect to encounter a diverse array of marine life at this site. Keep an eye out for fascinating species such as nudibranchs, shrimps, barracudas, anthias, and bream. Monkfish sightings are quite common, and if you're lucky, you may even catch a glimpse of rare larger creatures like rays. During the appropriate season, the moonfish makes an appearance as well.

Descending along the anchor line, we reach the reef at a depth of approximately 24 meters. Navigating in a northeast direction, divers will come across a narrow canyon that leads to a breathtaking and vibrant limestone wall. This impressive wall extends down to 40 meters, where it meets the sandy seabed. Conversely, heading southwest offers a more monotonous landscape, making it easier to lose orientation. Keep a watchful eye out for monkfish in this area. Nudibranchs and other fascinating fish species are abundant, and during the right season, you may have the opportunity to encounter a moonfish or two. The relative lack of diver traffic at this reef increases the chances of spotting rare larger fish such as eagle rays or tuna.

While exploring this captivating underwater world, it's important to exercise caution. Stay within the shadow of the current as much as possible and avoid straying too far from the anchor line. This ensures a manageable route back to the exit. Rest assured, our experienced guides and instructors possess an intimate knowledge of this dive site and will provide a comprehensive briefing tailored to individual needs. We strive to deliver the ultimate diving experience for every advanced diver.

This stunning dive site is located in Spain, specifically in the beautiful surroundings of Camí de Ronda, Palafrugell, Lower Empordà, Girona, Catalonia, 17212. Take advantage of the 15-meter visibility and explore the depths of El Ancla, a hidden gem awaiting your discovery.
