Navio do Norte (Wreck)
Located off S Paio, Vila Chã, there is an intriguing old shipwreck nestled on a sandy bottom 33 meters deep. This remarkable dive site offers divers the opportunity to explore cannons and mortars from the 19th century. Accessible only by boat, it promises a unique underwater adventure.

Known as the "Navio do Norte" or Northern Ship among local fishermen and the diving community, this shipwreck is believed to be the remains of a British barque named "Rollo," which sank on June 4th, 1876. Planning and navigating dives here is relatively straightforward, making it an appealing option for wreck diving, deep diving, and Enriched Air Nitrox certified divers.
The underwater currents in this area are typically mild, with surface currents being more common than bottom currents. The average visibility ranges around 5 meters, allowing divers to fully appreciate the captivating surroundings. To ensure comfort during the dive, it is recommended to wear a 7mm isothermal suit, as the water temperature averages around 13ºC / 55.4ºF.
