Gota Iris
Gota Iris is the final section of Shaab Iris, situated in the Abu Nugar region of Egypt. Approximately 1.5 hours away from El Gouna, this dive site offers a main reef and numerous coral blocks to explore. With an average depth of 14m, it is suitable for beginner divers.
Divers can expect to encounter a variety of marine life at Gota Iris, including octopuses, puffer fish, porcupine fish, moray eels, anthias, and swarms of glass fish. The site benefits from the protection of surrounding reefs, ensuring a calm environment.
The main reef is home to an array of moray eels, stone fish, and banner fish. The coral blocks, easily visible from one another, are adorned with stunning soft corals and teeming with anthias and glassfish. One of the highlights is the popular cleaning station found beneath a reef projection, where divers may come across large puffer fish and octopuses. Additionally, the shallow nature of the site allows for excellent lighting, perfect for capturing memorable underwater photographs.
With a visibility of 23m and a maximum depth of 13m, Gota Iris provides an enjoyable experience for divers of all levels. Located close to Hurghada in the Red Sea Governorate, Egypt, this picturesque dive site is a must-visit for underwater enthusiasts.
