Girandella
Located in the beautiful waters of Croatia, Girandella Diving Center offers divers a range of exciting dives with its three entry points. One entrance is situated directly below the Dive Center, allowing divers to choose between diving to the right or left shoulder. Another entrance, located 50m northeast before the nudist beach, leads divers along the wall's right shoulder, and then back to the beach at the designated marker. The third entrance, 50m southwest, offers divers the opportunity to explore the left shoulder and return over the reef.
The underwater world at Girandella Dive Site is teeming with marine life. Divers can spot a variety of fascinating creatures including gobies, blennies, squid, bream, gilthead, gurnard, octopus, monkfish, scorpionfish, leopard snails, purple thread snails, star snails, hairy starfish, crabs, and lobsters.
At Girandella Dive Site, the entrance directly below the Dive Center allows divers to start their dive from the beach. Gradually sloping past the concrete pedestals that mark the floating lines, divers will traverse hilly terrain with individual rocks, crevices, and holes leading towards the wall. To aid in navigation, a rope has been laid out up to the beginning of the steep face. At a depth of 13m, the actual reef with larger rocks comes into view. This area is known as "Octopus Street" due to the abundance of octopuses found in the crevices and holes during mating season.
Continuing along the rock formations up to a depth of 20m, divers will reach the edge of the reef, which takes on a V-shaped formation before plunging vertically down to 40m. The wall is adorned with crustose anemones, sulphur sponges, and leather sponges. Divers can also observe a variety of reef fish, such as banded bream and gold gill, as well as the ever-popular monkfish. Scorpion fish can be found nestled in the holes, while Mediterranean hair stars, leopard snails, thread snails, and star snails can be spotted throughout the area. A small cave near the middle of the wall is home to a lobster.
Towards the lower end of the wall, groups of tooth breams often gather, and the terrain gradually rises again to a depth of 12m. From here, divers can explore past a collection of statues before making their way back to the beach.
With a visibility of 15m and a maximum depth of 21m, Girandella Dive Site is suitable for divers of all levels, from beginners to experts. Whether you're seeking a thrilling underwater adventure or a chance to appreciate the diverse marine life, Girandella Diving Center provides an unforgettable diving experience.
