Aquarium Dive Site - Experience the Underwater Wonders of Grgur, Croatia

Situated on the northern side of Grgur Island in the Municipality of Lopar, Croatia, lies the breathtaking Aquarium dive site. This incredible underwater world is easily accessible by a fast rubber boat, which will transport you to the site in just 20 minutes. Once you arrive, the boat will anchor in a shallow area near the magnificent wall that awaits divers.

As you descend into the crystal-clear waters, you'll be greeted by a mesmerizing wall adorned with an array of marine life. The wall features both large and small crevices, providing the perfect hiding spots for fascinating creatures like conger eels, octopuses, and lobsters. Exploring further, you'll also encounter a vibrant tapestry of nudibranchs, scorpionfish, John Dory, Gurnard, and sea bream, adding an extra touch of color to this magical underwater realm.

To maximize your dive experience, it is recommended to keep the wall on your left-hand side as you navigate through the site. The wall extends to an impressive depth of 40 meters, showcasing an enchanting array of yellow and orange sponges as well as additional hiding places for conger eels, octopuses, and lobsters. Don't miss the chance to spot various species of nudibranchs, including the giant doris, dotted sea slug, pink flabellina, and the elusive yellow tylodina, which often camouflages itself within the yellow sponges. Lucky divers may even catch sight of the rare Antiopella.

On your return journey, with the wall now on your right side, take a moment to gaze upwards and witness the mesmerizing sight of schools of damselfish and diverse bream species gracefully swimming above. Keep a keen eye out for the distinctive painted comber, as it often signals the presence of an elusive octopus hiding within its nearby refuge.
