The marine life at the Barefoot House Reef is abundant, showcasing the typical reef fish found in the Maldives such as black tip, white tip, and nurse sharks, as well as stingrays, eagle rays, and even manta rays. Other fascinating creatures like lobsters, octopuses, and various macro species can also be spotted here.
This incredible dive site is conveniently located just 400 meters away from our resort's jetty and beach, accessible by dhoni due to the shallow section of the top reef. It is a popular choice for training and check dives, catering to divers of all levels. The slope of the reef starts at a shallow 3 or 4 meters in some areas and gradually descends to a sandy bottom ranging from 12 to 18 meters.
The Barefoot House Reef offers divers numerous opportunities to witness incredible displays of schooling fish like fusiliers, snappers, and jackfish. Additionally, encounters with batfish, napoleon fish, eagle rays, and large marbled and cow-tailed stingrays are also common. This vibrant dive site frequently hosts white tipped reef sharks and turtles, adding to the excitement.
Venture into the small ledges and overhangs for a chance to observe hidden creatures such as lobsters and resting stingrays or nurse sharks. The vast boulder and rock formations provide a thriving ecosystem for an array of reef life, including anemones, butterfly fish, banner fish, sweetlips, groupers, and damselfish.
