Oključna
Oključna Bay is protected from the open sea by a peninsula, which results in calm waters with minimal waves. This makes it an ideal location for surface breaks and beginner divers. The dive usually begins and ends near the concrete pier, following the western coast of the bay. Divers can choose to return along the same path or swim over the sandy bottom and return along the eastern coast.
Under the crystal-clear waters of Oključna Bay, divers can encounter a variety of marine life. Little crabs can be seen dwelling in shells left by small snails, while colorful sea stars and striped red mullets search for food on the sandy bottom. Divers should keep an eye out for octopuses lurking in the depths.
One of the main attractions of this dive site lies at a depth of 14m - a part of a wing from a B-24 bomber. During World War II, numerous planes met their fate in the Adriatic Sea near the strategic island of Vis. Some of these wrecks have become popular dive sites, and the wing fragment in Oključna Bay is one of them. Fishermen often discover these wrecks when their nets get caught on the unnatural elements on the seabed. In this case, a net got tangled on the bomber wreck and accidentally brought a fragment of the wing to Oključna Bay.
With a visibility of 21m and a maximum depth of 16m, Oključna Bay offers a suitable diving experience for beginners. Located in Grad Komiža, Split-Dalmatia County, 21485, Croatia, this dive site is a must-visit for divers exploring the waters around Vis Island.
