Navio Zambeze (Wreck)
As you descend to a maximum depth of 27m, you'll be greeted by the Zambeze, one of the smallest vessels in the Ocean Revival park. Measuring 44 meters in length, 12 meters in width, and weighing 300 tons in its prime, this former coast patrol vessel served operations in Africa for a remarkable 31 years. However, years of harsh winter storms have taken their toll, making the Zambeze the most damaged ship in the park.
Despite its weathered appearance, the Zambeze has become a haven for marine creatures. Divers can expect to encounter a variety of species, including conger eels, sea bream, golden bream, and many others. With a visibility of 6m, the underwater landscape surrounding the Zambeze offers a mesmerizing display of colors and textures.
Due to the depth and conditions of the site, diving at the Zambeze is recommended for advanced divers. However, with proper certification and experience, divers will be rewarded with an unforgettable exploration of this historic vessel and the vibrant marine life that now calls it home.
If you're planning a dive trip in Portugal, make sure to include the Ocean Revival underwater park and the Zambeze shipwreck on your itinerary. With its rich history, abundant marine life, and stunning underwater scenery, this dive site promises an extraordinary adventure for divers of all levels.
