Mixon Hole
At the bottom of the Hole, you'll discover a clean gravel bed that is home to Cat-sharks and Rays. On the surrounding wall, Crabs and Lobsters compete for space among the boulders, while various other marine species inhabit the ledge.
Situated just a short 10-minute distance from the beach, the Mixon Hole is located on the eastern side of the Selsey Bill and the Hounds MCZ. The northern lip of the Hole showcases a striking vertical drop ranging from 5-27m, bordered by a blue clay cliff. The 6m ledge is teeming with marine life that changes with the seasons. In April, you can spot Lumpsuckers, while late summer offers sightings of Atlantic Trigger Fish. Since the Mixon Hole is positioned at the eastern end of the Looe Channel, which connects the Eastern Solent to the English Channel, caution is advised regarding currents. We typically dive the Hole during Neap tides for optimal conditions.
