Maite Marine Sanctuary

Located southwest of the island along the beach road of San Juan in Siquijor, there lies a dive site known as Maite, which gets its name from the Visayan word for cemetery. Maite is a popular destination for divers, particularly night divers, due to its abundant population of Mandarin fish. This spot in Siquijor is renowned for muck diving, allowing divers to easily spot various marine creatures such as nudibranch, pipefish, frogfish, and seamoths.

Maite offers a flat and sloping dive environment, adorned with beautiful coral patches in the shallow areas. The main attraction in these regions is the mesmerizing ribbon eels. Additionally, divers can encounter flying gurnards and the famous and venomous blue-ringed octopus. On night dives, the show gets even more exciting with the appearance of spanner crabs and box crabs. Sea horses can also be found in this captivating dive spot.

With a visibility of 16 meters and a maximum depth of 18 meters, Maite is suitable for divers of all levels, including beginners. Whether you are a novice or an experienced diver, Maite offers a memorable and captivating underwater experience in Siquijor.
