Apo Marine Sanctuary

Apo Island stands out as one of the Philippines' most successful conservation achievements. Its Marine Sanctuary, one of the earliest in the country, strictly permits only 15 divers at a time to safeguard its 'no fishing zone' status and aid fish stock replenishment. Known as the iconic home of clown fish, this world-renowned site captivates dive enthusiasts with its remarkable sloping reef adorned with a diverse array of vibrant and textured hard coral. Anemones gracefully scatter across the seabed, providing a haven for anemone clown fish. Amidst the thriving soft and hard coral, an abundance of fish, including moray eels, fusiliers, butterfly fish, angel fish, scorpion fish, midnight snappers, diagonal banded sweetlips, and surgeon fish, graciously thrive in these waters. Macro enthusiasts will revel in the presence of nudibranchs, spotted aplenty throughout the site. With a visibility of 16 meters and a maximum depth of 21 meters, divers of all levels, including beginners, can indulge in Apo Island's underwater wonders.
