Cogon
Cogon is a term in the Filipino language that translates to "grass." The name "Cogon Point" was derived from the type of grass used for roofing traditional houses, which can be spotted northeast of Apo Island's shoreline. This diving spot offers a vibrant assortment of reef fish, pelagic fish, filefish, clownfish, triggerfish, snappers, bannerfish, batfish, sweetlips, and schooling big eye trevallies, all engaging in an exhilarating dance with the currents. It is a captivating drift dive, best suited for advanced and experienced divers, as the strong currents add an extra thrill. The dive begins with a gentle slope that gradually leads to a magnificent wall adorned with a myriad of soft and hard corals. Lucky divers may encounter eagle rays, turtles, reef sharks, scalloped hammerhead sharks, and even majestic mantas. On rare occasions, a whale shark may grace lucky divers with its presence. With a visibility of approximately 18m and a maximum depth of 22m, this dive site offers an unforgettable underwater experience for both beginners and advanced divers.
