The Tongues
Long lava reef formations, standing at approximately 6 meters high, will guide you to a stunning volcanic reef in the waters off the coast of Spain. This dive site, known as "Las Lenguas," offers a breathtaking underwater landscape and an explosion of marine life waiting to be discovered.
At a maximum depth of 18 meters, divers will have the opportunity to encounter a diverse range of species, including angel sharks, stingrays, groupers, triggerfish, and large schools of barracudas and bream. The abundance of marine life in this area is truly remarkable.
When briefing divers on this particular dive site, it is common to use your hand as a visual aid. By spreading your fingers, you can get a good idea of the intricate reef formations that resemble tongues. The main reef is supplemented by several smaller reef walls that jut out, creating a unique visual pattern when combined with the sandy areas in between.
Towards the western end of Las Lenguas, there are two notable photo opportunities for underwater enthusiasts. The first is a stunning window within the furthest reef, providing the perfect framing for a classic photograph. Additionally, just slightly north of the window, there is a small archway formed within the reef. Divers have the unique opportunity to swim through the archway and emerge on the other side, offering another excellent photo opportunity.
With a visibility of 18 meters and a maximum depth of 19 meters, this dive site is suitable for both beginner and advanced divers. Located along the Camino a Capitania, Castillo del Águila, Playa Blanca, Yaiza, Las Palmas in the beautiful Canary Islands, Las Lenguas is a must-visit destination for any diving enthusiast.
