Playa Kalki / Alice in Wonderland

Playa Kalki, located in the Netherlands, offers divers a fantastic experience at the dive site known as "Alice in Wonderland." This north-western dive spot is easily accessible from shore, making it a popular choice for divers of all levels, including beginners.

The dive site features a stunning reef that runs parallel to the beach, adorned with impressive coral formations. Divers can explore depths ranging from 5 to 20 meters, allowing for a varied and exciting underwater adventure.

Within the coral formations, a diverse array of reef fish can be spotted, while moray eels often make their hiding spots among the vibrant corals. Keep an eye out for the elusive Lettuce Sea Slugs (Elysia crispata) that can frequently be found resting atop the reef.

Visitors to this dive site can enjoy a range of amenities and services. On-site facilities include convenient parking, a restaurant, toilets, and a well-equipped diving school. The diving center, complete with a pier, offers all the necessary equipment for a fee. However, access to the beach and entry into the water are easy, convenient, and free of charge.

To begin your dive, simply descend the stone stairs and follow the small wooden staircase that leads directly to the beach. From there, swim on the surface towards the edge of the reef, which is approximately 100 meters away. Once at the edge, divers can start their descent, gradually deflating their BCDs. The top of the reef reaches a depth of around 5 meters before dropping to over 30 meters, so it's important to stay within your depth limits.

For navigation and safety, a rope is laid over the reef, running parallel to the pier. Be cautious of boat traffic and take note that the rope does not lead to the pier itself. During your dive, consider performing a 3-minute safety stop at a depth of 5 meters, conveniently located on the edge of the reef near the rope.

With excellent visibility reaching up to 23 meters and a maximum depth of 20 meters, Playa Kalki's "Alice in Wonderland" offers a memorable diving experience for divers of all levels.
