Olympia Maru (Wreck)

The Olympia, a converted timber hauler turned mobile aircraft repair facility and supply depot for the Army, boasts a remarkable history. It withstood the relentless US Navy attacks in Manila Bay before seeking refuge in Coron Bay. Regrettably, the ensuing air raid in Coron Bay set the Olympia ablaze.

Today, this WWII wreck has transformed into a captivating artificial reef adorned with a vibrant array of hard and soft corals, offering divers an extraordinary opportunity to spot jack fish. Resting upright with a gentle tilt to the port-side, the wreck lies at a depth of 30 meters, where powerful currents gracefully sweep over it. While some sections of the wreckage remain intact, remnants of its past can still be observed. Notably, the boiler room stands out as a primary attraction, although cautious exploration is essential due to its deteriorating state.

With a visibility of approximately 9 meters and a maximum depth of 26 meters, this dive site is recommended for advanced divers seeking an enriching underwater experience.
