Mitsubishi G3M ’Nell’ (Wreck)

Only 5 minutes away from the dive shop in Western, Solomon Islands, you'll find the Mitsubishi G3M "Nell" bomber. This incredible dive site lies in just 6 meters of water, offering wreck enthusiasts a fascinating underwater adventure. The Nell, piloted by Keizo Kondo, was brought down by two American P39 Airacobra fighter planes on December 28, 1942, only 30 meters from the shore. Despite the wreckage, the cockpit, engines, and wings remain intact, while the rear section of the fuselage has deteriorated over time. The divers of all levels, including beginners, can explore this captivating aircraft and discover a thriving underwater ecosystem filled with colorful reef fish like butterflyfish, angelfish, Moorish Idol, and squirrelfish.
