Bell P39 Airacobra (Wreck)

The Bell P39Q Airacobra fighter plane, believed to be one of two lost by the USAAF 68th Fighter Squadron during a raid on the Shortland Islands in 1943, was discovered in April 2011. Resting about 27m underwater on a sandy bottom, this mostly-intact wreck offers an intriguing diving experience.

Divers of advanced level can explore this site in the Solomon Islands, near Western. With a maximum depth of 26m and visibility reaching up to 19m, divers will have the opportunity to witness a variety of marine life.
