Kumomi
This dive site in Izu is highly sought after by divers. It is known for its numerous caves and rock formations, particularly between and around the prominent Ushitsukiwa rocks near the harbor.
These caves and crevices provide shelter for a diverse range of aquatic species, including dark-loving creatures like dandelions, lobsters, and red clams. Among the soft coral formations, you'll also encounter various types of snapper and butterflyfish. Venturing further offshore, you'll be amazed by the large schools of Japanese sardines, groupers, and the impressive kuei groupers.
Aside from the passable caves, there are several intriguing features to explore, including vertical holes and air-dome-shaped caverns. Inside these caves, you'll find an abundance of soft corals and spiny dogfish swimming about. Additionally, there is a pinnacle-shaped rock that emerges from the seabed at a depth of 60 meters and rises up to just 10 meters below the surface, providing a fantastic opportunity to observe large schools of fish.
