Discover Another Dive Site Near Dreischor Gemaal in the Netherlands
Located just before Dreischor Gemaal, there is an exciting dive site waiting to be explored. This dive site is made even more fascinating by the addition of an artificial reef, which was constructed a few years ago. Similar to the dive sites at Scharendijke and Den Osse, a line of reef balls has been strategically placed here. Convenient parking is available, and you can easily access the water by following the staircase over the dike.
Fauna & Flora
Prepare to encounter a diverse array of marine life in this underwater paradise. The reef balls provide shelter and feeding areas for lobsters, crabs, and various other creatures. As you explore the shallow areas, you'll be delighted to come across the vibrant Green sea slug and abundant shrimp.
Diving Experience
When you enter the water, the reef immediately comes into view, stretching between 5 and 10 meters in front of you. From here, it extends towards the left. The bottom gradually slopes down to a maximum depth of approximately 25 meters. It's worth noting that visibility may be affected by heavy rainfall due to the nearby pumping station.
The Green sea slugs exhibit fascinating color variations influenced by their diet. These vegetarian creatures have a particular fondness for green algae and seaweed, resulting in their characteristic green hue. At times, you may also spot clear blue pointed spots on their mantle. However, if they switch to consuming mainly red algae and seaweed, their color gradually transforms into reddish to yellowish-white.
Perfect for Beginners
With a maximum depth of 10 meters, this dive site is ideal for beginner divers. Its relatively shallow waters provide a safe and comfortable environment for newcomers to explore the captivating underwater world.
