Douglas Skyraider (Wreck)
The Skyraider is a renowned piston-engined aircraft that played a significant role in the United States' operations during World War II. Remarkably, the AD-5N (now A-1G) wreckage of this unique aircraft remains remarkably well-preserved, captivating aviation enthusiasts and divers alike.
This World War II wreck has transformed into a captivating artificial reef, attracting various marine species such as Moorish idols, banded sea krait, and coral groupers.
Situated at a depth of 36 meters, divers may experience reduced visibility due to the presence of deep volcanic ash on the seabed. However, the wreck's main attraction is the four 20mm cannons adorning its wings. Fueling further interest, numerous fish species have taken up residence both inside and outside the wreckage, creating an enchanting underwater ecosystem.
With a maximum depth of 32 meters and visibility typically reaching around 9 meters, this dive site is recommended for advanced divers seeking a remarkable underwater adventure.
