Wreck Eso
Located approximately 8 km off the coast of Djerba, Tunisia, near Ras Turgueness, lies the sunken minelayer. Resting at a depth of 20m, this wreck was discovered in 2014 and has since become a thriving habitat for a diverse array of fish species.
Divers exploring this site can encounter Dentex, red and white groupers, rays, turtles, octopus, corbels, billfish, parrotfish, and even dolphins. With a visibility of 8m and a maximum depth of 20m, this dive is suitable for advanced divers who are comfortable navigating underwater environments.
The minelayer's historical journey began on January 18, 1943, when it departed Tripoli, Libya, en route to Trapani, Italy, in the company of the freighter "Edda" (Ricardo). Unfortunately, on January 19, during an attack on the "Edda," the minelayer, named "Eso," became engaged in a pursuit with a British submarine. Tragically, it was ultimately struck by an air attack and sank.
