Wharewaka Point

The dive site at Wharewaka Road, Wharewaka, Taupo District, Waikato, New Zealand, offers convenient amenities such as ample parking, onsite toilets, changing rooms, and BBQ facilities. Divers can also take advantage of the grass area available for setting up their equipment. The shore entry is easily accessible on a mixture of sand and stone, extending down to depths of 30 meters or more.

While the water clarity is generally good on the sandy portion of the site, there may be some silt present near the drop-off. Navigating this dive site is straightforward, making it ideal for divers of all experience levels, including beginners. The best wind conditions for diving are when the speed is under 8 knots and coming from an easterly (offshore) direction.

Please note that the maximum depth at this dive site is approximately 16 meters, with visibility ranging around 8 meters.
