Velké Košariská
Located near Bratislava, just 3 km from the city of Podunajské Biskupice, and close to the villages of Rovinka and Dunajská Lužná, the Košariská gravel pit is a must-visit destination for divers. This dive site is known for its impressive depth, reaching up to 43m, and its pristine, drinkable-quality water.
Underneath the surface, divers can encounter a variety of freshwater fish species, including carp, sunflower, pike, catfish, eel, zander, and even freshwater jellyfish. Exploring the underwater world of Košariská is a thrilling experience for divers of all levels, from beginners to advanced and expert divers.
Covering an area of 56 ha, this relatively large lake goes by different names, with Velké Košariská and Nové Košariská being the most recognized ones. The visibility here is generally good, with variations depending on the season. During colder months, such as winter and early spring, visibility can exceed 15 meters.
In the summer, the lake transforms into a recreational hub, offering amenities such as snack bars, mobile toilets, and water bike rental services. The lake's bottom features a slightly rugged gravel-muddy terrain, and it is divided into two parts by a small peninsula. The shallow areas are often surrounded by trees, creating a picturesque environment, while the deeper section is separated by a pebble break. Access to the water is most convenient from the gravel beach, which also serves as the best entry point for divers.
