Guláška / Hlboké jazero

Gravel Lake Guláška (Hlboké jezero, Čiernovodské jezero) holds a special place in the hearts of Slovak divers as it marks the beginning of their diving journey. With its exceptional visibility and diverse aquatic life, this site serves as an alma mater for Slovak divers.

The lake boasts a rich variety of underwater species, including perch, carp, catfish, barbel, whitefish, pike, bream, roach, and even freshwater jellyfish and crayfish.

Located on the left side of the exit road from Senec to Kralova pri Senenci, Gravel Lake Guláška attracts a large number of fishermen, snowmobilers, and swimmers during the summer season. To fully enjoy your visit, we suggest planning your trip on weekdays and avoiding holiday weekends. If you do plan to visit during peak times, we recommend contacting one of the local diving bases, such as Wobbegong Beach Dive Club, DiveINN Guláška, or Atol Senec, to make a reservation for parking and diving at a nominal fee of about 8 - 10 EUR.

Important details about the lake include a maximum depth of 17m and an average visibility of 5m. It is a freshwater lake without any tributaries, filled solely by underground seepage water. Covering an area of approximately 95 hectares, the lake features a slightly undulating bottom with occasional gravelly patches and fine muddy sediment covered with aquatic plants. Access to the water is possible from various points along the rutted dirt roads that encircle most of the lake shore.

The underwater world of Gravel Lake Guláška offers more than just marine life. Divers can explore remnants of mining activities, such as steel ropes, iron posts, coils of cables, as well as training platforms and other submerged attractions tied with ropes or plastic sheeting. However, we strongly advise against diving in the area used by snowmobilers due to safety concerns.

It's important to note that the situation regarding access to the lake and surrounding land is somewhat complicated and unresolved, as the lake is officially subject to mining law and access to the adjacent land is prohibited. If you are unfamiliar with the area and wish to avoid any unexpected surprises, we recommend reaching out to one of the aforementioned diving bases for guidance and assistance.

With its unique underwater treasures and convenient location in Senec, Slovakia, DiveINN at Slnečné jazerá is a recommended choice for divers of all levels - from beginners to advanced enthusiasts. Discover the beauty of Gravel Lake Guláška and embark on an unforgettable diving adventure.
