SS Thistlegorm (Wreck)
The Thistlegorm, a renowned wreck of a British freighter, is one of the world's most famous dive sites. Located approximately 40 kilometers west of Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt, this impressive wreck lies on a flat keel at a depth of 30 meters, with the bridge rising up to 17 meters.
Exploring the Thistlegorm offers divers the opportunity to see remarkable anti-aircraft guns, expansive deck areas showcasing trains, tenders, and winches. Inside the wreck, one can also find a cargo of military equipment and an abundance of marine life.
The site is particularly captivating due to its collection of motorcycles, trucks, guns with protective shields, and even a nearby steam locomotive. Sunk by a German bomber near the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula on October 6, 1941, this wreck was rediscovered in 1991 and has since become one of the most sought-after diving destinations in the Red Sea.
