SG115 Coast Guard Wreck
SG 115, an old coast guard ship, was intentionally sunk by BOSAD in 2007 to create an artificial reef near Black Island in Turkey's Aegean Region. As you depart from the rugged coastline, crossing through Neptune grass, the imposing sight of SG 115 emerges in the distance. The stern rests at a depth of 17m, while the bow lies at 26m.
On the mast, you'll find squid eggs delicately growing. Depending on the season, you may encounter schools of jackfish and barracudas around the wreck. Additionally, groupers and other local fish can be spotted in the vicinity.
One of the main attractions of this dive site is the impressive right wall. Brimming with a diverse array of local fish, you might catch a glimpse of jacks, dentexes, dusky groupers, send groupers, barracudas, and meagers. Depending on the time of year, you can also discover tiny critters like nudibranches, sea slugs, octopuses, murray eels, and various crustaceans hidden among the rocks. The SG right wall is particularly intriguing for night dives.
The location offers excellent visibility of 22m and reaches a maximum depth of 20m, making it suitable for both beginner and advanced divers. Situated near Bodrum in Muğla, this spot is conveniently close to marinas and features protected bay areas suitable for dive boat moorings.
Explore the captivating underwater world of SG 115 and immerse yourself in the beauty of this extraordinary dive site.
