La Chimenea del Promontorio
Underwater explorers will be treated to a diverse array of marine life at this site. Keep an eye out for a variety of fish species including seabreams, two-banded seabreams, damselfish, groupers, gilthead breams, painted combers, and moray eels. Additionally, you may also encounter thicklip grey mullets, mottled groupers, cardinal fish, and even barracudas during your dive.
As you descend into the depths, you'll come across a sloping terrain where a narrow tunnel awaits, allowing two divers to pass through side by side. Continuing on, you'll encounter the entrance of the chimney, marked by a horizontal cave adorned with fascinating sea slugs such as dotted sea slugs, giant doris, spiral tube-worms, and tuve anemone. Black brittle-stars and striped red mullets can also be found within the cave's crevices.
Once you reach the end of the cave, your ascent through the chimney begins, gradually leading you to a height of 7 meters. Upon exiting, make your way west towards Punta Quintana. Along the way, you'll encounter several small caves that are definitely worth exploring, as they often serve as habitats for groupers and mottled groupers. Don't forget to keep an eye on the sandy bottom for the elusive marbled electric rays.
This dive site offers a captivating experience for cave and chimney enthusiasts, however, it is important to note that proper diving experience and a reliable lighting system are required. With a maximum depth of 18 meters and visibility reaching up to 21 meters, this dive site is suitable for both beginner and advanced divers.
