El Hornillo
The Hornillo pier, located in the bay of the same name, is an impressive metal structure built in the early 1900s under the direction of engineer Gustavo Gillman. This dive site offers a very low difficulty level, making it perfect for beginners. The route follows the wall that forms the base of the pier, providing protection from any current. Starting at 4m and descending to a maximum depth of 16m, it caters to divers of all experience levels.
During the dive, you'll be surrounded by a vibrant marine life. Sponges, anemones (including a large number of Actinia Equina, also known as sea tomatoes), sea urchins, and various species of fish such as scorpion fish, crawfish, salps, mullet, damselfish, and fredis can be spotted along the way. As you explore the depths, you'll also uncover over a century of history.
One hidden gem in this area is the spectacular specimen of Hippocampus Guttulatus, or sea horse, that our divers have discovered. Its impressive size and vibrant colors make it a true attraction of this dive.
With a visibility of approximately 10m, divers can fully appreciate the underwater beauty this site has to offer. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced diver, the Hornillo pier dive is a must-do experience when diving in Spain. Don't miss the opportunity to explore this historical marvel in the stunning waters of the bay.
