Eagle Wreck
The Eagle, a 269-foot freighter built in Holland in 1962, was deliberately sunk in December 1985. Today, it rests at a depth of 70-110 feet in the waters off Upper Matecumbe Key, Islamorada, Monroe County, Florida, United States. The ship's hull was split in two by Hurricane Georges in 1998.
Diving at the Eagle offers an awe-inspiring experience for advanced and expert divers. With a maximum depth of 32 meters and visibility reaching up to 16 meters, it provides excellent conditions for exploration.
Underwater, you'll encounter a diverse marine life. The artificial reef teems with horse-eye jacks, blue runners, rainbow runners, and Atlantic spadefish. Keep an eye out for the impressive Goliath groupers and Bull sharks that frequently patrol the ocean floor. Sharing this underwater habitat is a resident turtle, adding to the fascinating biodiversity.
Whether you're an experienced diver or an expert seeking a thrilling adventure, the Eagle wreck offers a captivating dive site in the crystal-clear waters of the United States.
