Deep Sponge - 2 Mile Reef

Deep Sponge is an extraordinary advanced dive site located approximately 500m to the seaward side of Two Mile Reef in South Africa. As the name suggests, this dive site is renowned for its impressive vase-like sponges that dot the reef. The topography of the reef is relatively flat, gradually sloping towards the seaward side. At a depth of 27m, there is a gentle drop that reaches a maximum depth of 30m, with a slight wall on the seaward side.

Soft corals dominate the seafloor, creating a vibrant and colorful underwater landscape. However, it is the gigantic vase-like sponges that truly capture the attention of divers.
