Bahia del Pont de’n Gil
Divers of all levels, from beginners to advanced, can enjoy this dive. With a maximum depth of 18 meters and visibility reaching up to 23 meters, there is plenty to explore. The underwater fauna includes marbled electric rays, striped red mullets, various species of breams, white seabreams, two-banded seabreams, saddled seabreams, ornate wrasses, and rainbow wrasses. Additionally, divers may encounter black sea urchins and starfish.
Among the rocks, fascinating creatures like octopuses, nudibranchs, largescaled scorpionfish, Mediterranean morays, and lobsters can be found. During certain weather conditions, particularly when there is a northwest wind, large numbers of pelagic jellyfish populate the cove.
To start the dive, divers enter the water from the anchored boat, which is positioned on the sandbank approximately 25 meters past the Pont d'en Gil Arch. Sailing southeast, divers will come across the Gruta de las Fauces, also known as the Cave of the Jaws. This cave features an arch with a rock resembling an open mouth. From the bottom of this cave, there is a siphon that leads to the main entrance of the Pont d'en Gil cave. Continuing westward under the Pont d'en Gil, divers can turn northward to discover a tunnel that opens up to the open sea. After passing through this tunnel, divers have two options: explore the east coast of the promontory and return to the boat or, if air supply permits, sail eastward through the cove to reach its west coast. The west coast takes the form of a sloping ravine and leads to the entrance of the Cueva del Oro (Gold Cave) where water flowing out of its top creates golden reflections. From this point, divers sail back towards the boat, positioned southeast of their current location. The safety stop is always conducted during the return navigation.
