Sohugan

Located about 570km south of Tokyo, between the Ogasawara Islands and Hachijojima Island, this dive site is renowned for its unique rock formation set amidst the awe-inspiring ocean. Rising 99 meters above the water surface from a depth of 2500 meters, this site offers an exhilarating experience for expert divers.

Accessible via a 20-hour charter boat ride, this location in Japan's Hachijō Subprefecture holds a magnificent array of marine life. Migratory fish including bigeye trevally, longnose trevally, kappores, yellowtail, crabs, and large bluefin tuna can be regularly spotted. Moreover, an abundance of shark species and occasional sightings of humpback and beaked whales make this dive site all the more captivating.

However, due to challenging sea conditions and strong currents, diving is only advisable for one to two weeks during the rainy season. The underwater visibility can sometimes reach an impressive 40 meters, providing an astonishingly clear view of the fascinating marine ecosystem.
