Rye Pier

Rye Pier, located in Rye, Melbourne, Australia, is a popular dive site for beginners. This L-shaped pier stretches approximately 500 meters and was originally constructed in 1860 for the lime trade. However, please note that diving is not recommended during strong northerly winds due to the pier's North-Northeast orientation.

To access the lower landing, divers will need to take a slightly longer walk, about 50 meters from the end of the pier. While diving during the day is enjoyable, exploring the site at night offers a unique experience, as more marine creatures become active.

Underwater, divers can look forward to encountering a diverse range of marine life, including octopus, seahorse, cuttlefish, nudibranch, smooth rays, shrimp, blue ring octopus, and spider crab migration. With a visibility of 7 meters and a maximum depth of 6 meters, Rye Pier provides excellent conditions for observing these fascinating creatures.

For those planning a visit, Rye Pier is conveniently located at 12682 Point Nepean Road, Rye, Melbourne, within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, Australia. Dive enthusiasts of all levels, especially beginners, can explore the abundance of underwater wonders that this site has to offer.
