Okubo Hama

Located in the northern part of Miyakejima, this dive site is a popular choice for advanced and expert divers. Offering a beach entry, the underwater terrain is characterized by lava flows, with roots extending into the water. Exploring the expansive area to the east and west of the site provides an opportunity to discover a wealth of rare macro life, including the illustrious Japanese Pygmy Seahorses. While a diverse range of organisms can be found along the roots and coral in the shallower waters, a large overhang is home to numerous scorpionfish. Keep an eye out for sea turtles commonly spotted in the shallows. This site requires experience and caution during periods of high waves, as it features a surf entry and exit. With excellent visibility of 18m and a maximum depth of 14m, this mesmerizing dive spot promises a remarkable underwater experience. Situated in Japan, specifically in the Miyake Subprefecture of Tokyo, this dive site is conveniently close to the town of 友地 (Tomochi).
