Nine Mile Reef
The reef at this dive site in Australia reaches a depth of approximately 10 meters, descending to 30 meters with a diverse array of hard and soft corals adorning the drop-off. Scattered throughout the shallower sections, divers can encounter a variety of reef fish, as well as pelagic species including sharks, turtles, stingrays, eagle rays, and occasionally manta rays gracefully circling the reef.
Throughout the year, the reef is inhabited by a thriving population of wobbegongs, but during the summer months, leopard sharks join their ranks, while in winter, grey nurse sharks make an appearance. Additionally, other shark species such as bull sharks, bronze whalers, and even the occasional hammerhead may occasionally visit the site.
With a maximum depth of 22 meters and visibility clocking in at around 14 meters, this dive site is recommended for advanced divers. It is located near Fingal, Tweed Shire Council, New South Wales, 2485, Australia.
