MV Produce, wreck

The MV Produce, sunk on August 11, 1974, is the latest ship to meet its fate at the pinnacles of Aliwal Shoal. This Norwegian bulk carrier, originally measuring 168 meters in length, now rests at a maximum depth of 32m on the sandy ocean floor. Loaded with a full cargo of Molasses, its wreckage is now home to the rare and stunning Harlequin goldie. Discovered by Dr. Allan Connel in 1986, this fish species is unique to the Kwa Zulu Natal area, adding to the allure of the dive site.
