Kamionka Piast Parking 1

Welcome to the premier diving destination in Opole, Poland - the marl quarry at Kamionka Piast. With its convenient access, underwater diversity, and historical significance, it is a must-visit for both beginner and advanced divers.

At Kamionka Piast, you'll find two easy descents into the water, with Parking Lot No.1 being the most popular entrance point. This entrance allows you to explore the shallower part of the reservoir, which is teeming with a variety of aquatic life.

The quarry boasts an impressive array of fish species, including roach, rudd, perch, tench, pike, eel, dwarf catfish, ruffe, catfish, silver carp, ide, and chub. As you descend to a depth of up to 15m, you'll encounter a vibrant underwater world adorned with vegetation.

Parking Lot No.1 can accommodate around 20 cars, albeit with minimal infrastructure. You'll find a few walls and pallets where you can organize and prepare your diving equipment. Recent improvements include the addition of concrete slabs at the entrance, making it easier to enter and exit the water.

Underneath the surface, you'll discover an underwater landscape characterized by flooded bushes, trees, and submerged platforms at various depths. However, navigating the basin can be challenging without prior knowledge. To assist divers, handrails have been installed, and it is advisable to familiarize yourself with the basin map available at http://podwodneopole.pl/mapy-kamionki-piast/.

The history of Opole is closely tied to the production of building materials, particularly cement. The Piast cement plant, which operated from 1907 to 1978, left its mark on the region. The quarry we dive in today was once an open-pit marl mine that was flooded to create this popular water reservoir.

When diving at Kamionka Piast, expect a maximum depth of 10m and a visibility range of approximately 4m, depending on weather conditions. The underwater realm offers a diverse array of flora and fauna, including underwater meadows and submerged forests. Divers can also explore sunken platforms and even encounter a submerged Fiat 126p.

One noteworthy site is the "house" of a shot, adding intrigue to your underwater adventure. To help you navigate the reservoir effectively, a map indicating diving locations is available at the parking lot near the main water entrance, located on Limestone Street.

Come experience the wonders of Kamionka Piast, the most popular diving water reservoir in Opole, Poland. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced diver, this site offers an unforgettable underwater exploration opportunity.
