Freibacher Stausee

Located just half an hour south of Klagenfurt in Austria, the Wörthersee reservoir is not only a source of electricity but also a fascinating dive site. Back in 1957, the reservoir was created, submerging seven buildings underwater. Now, divers can explore the remains of these prominent structures at shallow depths.

Diving in this area offers the opportunity to encounter a variety of aquatic species. Sturgeons, trout, vain (or chub), and pike can all be observed here. These fascinating creatures can mostly be found near the shallow bank areas, where the trees create a picturesque backdrop.

With a visibility of approximately 7 meters and a maximum depth of 10 meters, this dive site is suitable for divers of all skill levels, even beginners. The site, known as Stausee Rundweg, is situated in Homölisch, Sankt Margareten im Rosental, within the Bezirk Klagenfurt-Land of Carinthia, Austria.
