Barleber Lake

Barleber Lake, located north of Magdeburg, Germany, is a prime destination for advanced divers. With a surface area of approximately 103 hectares, this lake offers a maximum depth of 11 meters and an average depth of 6.7 meters. Divers can expect visibility of up to 7 meters, allowing for excellent underwater exploration.

Underneath the pristine waters of Barleber Lake, divers may encounter a variety of aquatic species. Eel, bream, pike, carp, and roach are commonly sighted here. Additionally, rudd and white bream can be found in abundance. The lake's sandy bottom adds to the natural beauty and unique ecosystem.

Barleber Lake was formed between 1928 and 1937 as a result of gravel dredging during the construction of the motorway and the Mittelland Canal. In the vicinity, Barleber Lake II, situated to the east, was also created through gravel mining activities.
